Sonata for Trombones

I wrote Sonata for Trombones in the Spring of 1983.  At that stage in my career I was travelling round the UK a lot, and much of the piece was written on trains.  The finale was composed at a single sitting on the London to Glasgow express, and the slow outer parts of the second movement were sketched in the waiting room at Crewe after a missed connection.  It's played a great deal, especially in the USA.

The excellent American group  Stentorian Consort have recorded it and I simply cannot imagine a better performance: you can download their version from iTunes.
